The Birmingham
Curriculum Statement is a compilation of official documents
specifying the LEA's policies and approaches across all aspects of
the curriculum. The document relating specifically to the
environment, Birmingham Curriculum Statement (ESD), is

page for viewing, saving or printing out.
Summary
The document sets out the LEA's commitment to the principles of
ESD, and support for the city's Local Agenda 21. It notes the
value of subject leaders incorporating ESD into the school
curriculum and identifies criteria to enable this. The aims
and purposes of Environmental Learning are specified and matched
to the City Council's Environmental Strategy. Acknowledging
the four key principles of ESD, it describes useful approaches
based upon ways in which children learn. |
