Imagine a City
Birmingham - City of Poems
Picture Birmingham in the new millennium.. and write it!  There are books to be published!  If you're in school or whoever you are, whatever your age - IMAGINE.

As part of the city's Millennium activities Birmingham Education and Life-Long Learning Services is to publish poems, other writings and pictures in two books, and invites you to send yours by December 1st, and earlier if possible.

Poems by anyone of any age, other writings and pictures by school pupils, on any aspect of the city, from the new Bull Ring to what's happening in your street to your particular itch or curiosity of experience.

This is an opportunity for young people to consider their relationship with the environment of their city and to record their responses in a number of forms which will create a social and historical resource for future generations.  Schools are being sent more detailed information including ideas, themes and exercises.  To produce the books for publication, the resources will be collected together as part of the Millennibrum project.

Schools, please send stark, shy and strange poems, fictions, journalistic accounts (maximum for prose 250 words) - or visual images - drawings, paintings, collages, photographs, computer projections, etc.

Up to two pieces of work of whatever kind, whether poems, other pieces of writing or visual images from any one person.  Each item needs to be labelled with:

a title
your name
address (or school)
age
what you do (student, parent, childminder, your job, etc)
name of your local school

Send your poems, other writings or visual images by or before December 1st, via the school or direct to:
