This activity helps the children test their own ideas. Children's ideas are usually difficult to change so this activity sets out to change them by asking them to collect evidence to test their ideas.
Various parts of the activity may require equipment like torches and balls and on two occasions we ask the children to print an activity recording sheet. There is no print button so the children will have to print using the button on the top toolbar of the browser.
The activity is based upon the work of Brenda Keogh and Stuart Naylor: See Science on the Underground. Pupil Notes Do you know why the Moon is the shape that it is? Click on the campfire and then move the mouse around the children sitting around it.
They all have different ideas about why the Moon is the shape it is. Click on an idea that is close to yours and find out if you were right.
If you find you need to carryout an experiment ask your teacher for the equipment. |
