Wikipedia conference told more contributors are needed

Wikipedia, the online encyclopaedia where entries can be edited by anyone, is losing contributors, the seventh annual Wikipedia conference, hosted this year in Israel, was told by the website’s founder, Jimmy Wales.

In an effort to reverse this trend the encyclopaedia is aiming to simplify editing procedures, so as to not put off contributors who see their input changed.

Sue Gardner, executive director, stated that “By March, Wikipedia had about 90,000 active contributors. The goal is to tack on another 5,000 by June of next year.”
