The CLC Service are pleased to offer a number of short courses later this term to help schools get to grips with Apple technologies to support teaching and learning. 28 June 2012 – Using iPads To Support Literacy. A beginner’s session to using iPads in the classroom using a practical “hands on” approach. Explore a selection of “apps” and how they can be used to support teaching and learning. Find out how to create multimedia iBooks and improve standards of writing. We’ll be sharing stories of inspirational work undertaken in Birmingham schools of how this particular approach can re-engage students with approaches to drafting and redrafting for success. Time: This course is repeated three times – please specify which session you would like to attend: 10.00 – 12.00 13.00 – 15.00 16.00 –18.00 5 July 2012 Data Handling –Using Google Forms On iPads. Make the data more meaningful by collecting the data you are about to interpret. Pupils can access the collated data in the same lesson, whilst also considering form construction along with the scope and limitations of the questions. Time: 16.00 – 18.00 (twilight only) 12 July 2012 Using iPads To Make Movies. A practical session for teachers on how to use “green screen” technology and iMovie on the iPad to support learning across the curriculum. The second part of the session will be an introduction to using iMovie on Mac computers. Time: 16.00 – 18.00 (twilight only) 19 July 2012 Using iBooks Author To Create Teaching And Learning Resources This course will help you to use iBooks Author on Apple Mac computers to create interactive iBooks. You’ll find out how to include movies, text, photos, audio, Keynote presentations (equivalent to MS Powerpoint), quizzes and interactive images into your iBook. This is an ideal activity for creating revision guides or your own unit specific textbooks. Time: 16.00 – 18.00 (twilight only)
