Birmingham Sixth Form Mega Quiz

The Lord Mayor's Mega Quiz has proved to be a very popular and successful quiz for the past 15 years.  It has attracted teams from all over the Midlands and has been hosted by top celebrities including Magnus Magnusson, Chris Tarrant and many others.

The event is held under the banner of the Lord Mayor's Charities and has been successful in raising money for the Lord Mayor's nominated charities.

The Chairman of the event, Martin Burton, along with his Committee, is very keen to create a "Sixth Form Mega Quiz" for the City of Birmingham schools.  Research is in an advanced state and the point has now been reached to measure the level of support we can hope to receive from our Sixth Form Colleges.

The proposals are as follows:

  • the quiz will be held between 2.30 and 4.30 on Thursday 22 November 2012
  • the venue will be the Great Hall at Birmingham University
  • the entry fee will be £30 for a team of four to six
  • an appropriate trophy is being commissioned
  • there will be prizes for the winners and runners up
  • a celebrity quizmaster will officiate alongside with the Lord Mayor
  • there will be eight rounds of ten questions
  • refreshments will be available
  • transport to and from the University will be your responsibility
  • a panel of independent academics will set the questions
  • the quiz will receive publicity
  • there will be limited accommodation for spectators

It is hoped that a member of your staff will be in attendance throughout for the care and supervision of individual teams.

If you would like any further information concerning the Quiz please contact Bev Whitehouse on 0121 303 1999 or alternatively by email, bev.whitehouse@birmingham.gov.uk.
