Do you know a budding poet aged between 11 and 17?  Birmingham Libraries is looking for the eighth Young Poet Laureate for the city. This prestigious role is for one year and gives the young person the opportunity to develop their writing skills, read to audiences and promote poetry to other children and young people.

They will also work with Birmingham's Poet Laureate on various projects and get help with their writing. It will offer the chance to meet with poets and take part in local and national events. The post is from 4 October 2012 to 3 October 2013. The successful candidate will be presented with a framed certificate and £100 worth of books. Previous applicants are welcome to apply again. The closing date is Friday 27 July 2012.
