Resource Support Notes:
This activity can be used for developing the child's understanding of number partition up to 10. By placing passengers on the upper and lower decks of a bus the child experiences the different ways that 10 objects can be partitioned. Working independently the child consolidates their number sequencing skills as well as experiences how to create a variety of different sets of objects (conservation).

With educational supervision the activity can be extended for assessment purposes by asking the child to place 'x' number of passengers on the upper deck and 'y' number of passengers on the lower deck. Counting the passengers reinforces the number system while the inclusion of the dynamic sum provides an introduction to addition.

After each turn the child can elect to 'play again'. If the child seems to experience difficulty with the activity a screen will appear asking them to seek assistance.

Pupil Notes

This game helps you count to 10. When the bus arrives, drag and drop the people onto the bus. As each person is placed a counter adds up the number of passengers. Once you have placed all the passengers you can make a paper copy of your work by clicking the 'print' button.
