Description:
Learnalot is a new educational portal offering both free and subscription-based game-based learning resources. The resources aim to engage and mathematically challenge students between 11 and 16 years. The video game style resources have been designed by teachers to develop thinking, reasoning and problem-solving skills through real-life challenges that relate to students’ everyday lives.
Resource Support Notes:

Learnalot aims to provide resources that offer skills-based mathematical learning at KS3 with:

  • Problem-based activities that address key areas of the secondary maths curriculum
  • Teacher notes, worksheets and lesson plans that provide detailed support to easy classroom use
  • Supporting documents that introduce the students to the skills needed for the activities and provide practice
  • Self-scoring activities: teachers can monitor students' progress and respond quickly to any problems
  • Each resource comprising three problem-based activities lasting 40 minutes to 1 hour
  • Each activity covering a different area of the program of study relevant to a resource theme - from budgets, loans and interest rates (Britain's Got Power resource) to working with co-ordinates and distances (Cops and Robbers resource).
