Description:
This is a set of activities which will help you work out and understand time. The games use AM and PM as well as digital and analogue clocks. They also show you how to use a 24 hour clock.
Resource Support Notes:
There are 3 sets of activities to this resource. They are:

Telling the time: This shows the difference between the hour and minute hands of an analogue clock. Once the demonstrations have been shown, the children can try out some questions by stopping the clock and then typing in the time. At the end of each question they click the 'check' button to see if they were right.

AM or PM?: Is it 3 o'clock in the morning or 3 o'clock in the afternoon? This set of activities explains all about AM and PM and then tests the children's understanding. Make sure they keep an eye on the sky to see whether the moon is out or the sun is shining, this gives them a clue to the time of day!

The 24 Hour Clock: Rather than using AM or PM to tell if it's daytime or night time people often use the 24 hour clock. Explain to the children that if they need to catch a bus or a train then the timetable will be shown using the 24 hour clock. This set of activities and questions will help them understand the time.

There is a whiteboard version of this set of resources which can be accessed by clicking on the link under the main activity. This is really useful for illustrating some of the basic concepts to larger groups or the whole class. The whiteboard version can be resized to make room on the screen for other objects to be displayed such as the computer's clock (double click on the time on the taskbar at the bottom right of the screen) or made full screen so that everyone in the class can clearly see the activity.
