| Six Birmingham schools get go-ahead under new Priority School Building Programme - Gove |
The six schools are: The crumbling schools will be refurbished or rebuilt, according to the recent announcement by Michael Gove, as part of the new Priority School Building Programme (replacing the Building Schools for the Future policy). Birmingham City Council had originally applied for 19 schools, 13 of which had their building plans halted when BSF was cancelled in 2010. Overall, fewer than half of the schools that applied have been successful: 261 out of 587 schools . Mr Gove said: “I know that many schools will be disappointed not to be included in the programme. We have had to take difficult decisions in order to target spending on those schools that are in the worst condition." |
