Multilingual colour idioms   Multilingual colour idioms
Alan Kennedy's Color / Language project
back
Description:
Alan Kennedy has collected together a vast array of idioms in a wide range of languages on this site. Listed by language and then by colour, there are hundreds of examples of how colour is used to mean different things depending on the language. There's also an invitation to add to the list if you have your own examples, and a request that any mistakes be pointed out too. Great for adding interest to essay writing, but also good for those with an interest in comparative linguistics.
