This activity is a series of short, simple demonstrations to show how pupils can work out percentages of money using different strategies.
Resource Support Notes:
This resource provides a useful demonstration of strategies that children can adapt, practice and use to calculate percentages using money. Although there are few areas of interactivity, it is best suited for large groups or whole class teaching with a whiteboard (see below). The resource can then be used to elicit alternative strategies from the children and act as an introduction to further classroom work.
There is a whiteboard version for this set of resources which can be accessed by clicking on the link under the main activity. This is really useful for illustrating some of the basic concepts to larger groups or the whole class. The whiteboard version can be resized to make room on the screen for other objects to be displayed (such as a calculator) or made full screen so that everyone in the class can clearly see the activity.
