Story Spinners

Imagine how many stories could travel across Birmingham!

What sort of stories would they be?  Stories from all over the world -  stories of lived experiences -  stories crossing cultures and generations -  stories painting landscapes of far away places – new stories - old stories.

And how could these stories  travel?   By word of mouth -  through podcasts - on the page -  on the screen - in the book -  on the stage.    And where could these stories start?  In your classroom - in your book club - in your car - on the bus-  in your assembly.  With YOU!

This project started at the beginning of Spring Term and is now entering Phase 2 when schools will begin to work with Birmingham Centre for the Child and Stories from the Web.
The Story Spinners is proving a powerful resource for inspiring and encouraging children's own storytelling and contributed to raising standards in writing through the use of talk for writing.
