The Project
A range of activities which involve the interactive whiteboard have been carried out since the installation ten month ago. But I wish to focus on work done by the children the year one class. It is from this work that I will base my comments and conclusions, but reference will be made to other findings that have arisen when using the board at other times.
The case study ran for a term.

Using the Interactive Whiteboard with PowerPoint
A group of year one children spent ten literacy sessions on a project about designing paper bats! The whiteboard was used heavily for various activities culminating in a PowerPoint presentation about what they had learned.

The literacy focus of the work was based on developing the "instructional text" strand within the NLS framework. Expected outcomes were that the children would be able to write down the steps in the correct order, use simple time connectives and use simple telling sentences, which started with a verb. Also, the children were to present their work to an invited audience and used the Smartboard to share their work with others.

First the children made their bats.
