This beautiful memorial was built to remember the peoples of the Indian sub-continent, Africa and the Caribbean who fought in both World Wars. No longer will they be forgotten by history. The memorial was built as commemorative gate at Hyde Park Corner, in London. Carved in the stones are the names of the countries which took part, and where they fought.

Her Majesty the Queen opened the Memorial Gates on 6th November 2002.

Kohmia War Memorial

“It is nothing short of a miracle…which has called men from the uttermost ends of the earth… and which has caused human beings to do the most incalculable, improvident and, from a narrow point of view, profitless things.”
Winston Churchill describing to the House of Commons the support for the war effort from the people of what was then the British Empire.
