The 'toymaking' industry (did/did not) mean just children's toys. It included all sorts of things made from (metal/plastic).
Small metal tools were an important product. Birmingham was called ................................................................. by (Fred/Edmund) Burke. This was an (insult/compliment) to us. Products like these were made in vast numbers.

1889 Birmingham a City. Electricity Co. formed. First electric trams.

1890 First council houses built.

1891 Boundaries extension - Balsall Heath, Saltley, Little Bromwich, Harborne (total 4,100 acres) added to City.

1892 Birmingham Water Act, permitting use of water from Wales.

1893 Balsall Heath Park opened.

1894 Calthorpe Park opened.

1895 Wolseley Motors Co. formed.

1896 City's first Lord Mayor.

1900 Birmingham University founded.
