Out on the Streets

'Going into London'
The streets are (wide/narrow). The roadway is (tarmac/rough). The houses are probably made from (wood/stone). The gateway is almost certainly made from (brick/stone). To show criminals how silly they are the Mayor of London has put .......................................................... and they hope this will............................................................................... Because most people can't read, all the shops have ...............above the door. Other traders sell on the (street/river).
Rich people travel by (cart/carriage) Poor people must travel (by horse/on foot).
To get fresh milk the farmers brought (carts/cows) into the town and if you wanted milk you went out into the street to get it.

'Tailor's shop'
Two men are (writing/sewing) and another is (drawing/cutting) cloth to make clothes.
They try to work in the window for two reasons

Many poor people went (barefoot/in posh boots). The wealthy woman is ordering her new shoes and will say what colour as well as what size she wants. The different styles of shoe are hanging (on the floor/above the window) where any customer can see them.
