Date of Burial The body was lying on peat dated at 2,000 years old
Age He must have been at least 20 because his wisdom teeth had grown
State of the Body He was lying on his right side, wearing only an ancient leather cap and a leather belt. X-rays showed he was in good health.
Injuries There was a rope around his neck which had left clear marks under the chin and at the sides of the neck where the knot was.
Stomach Contents His last meal had been eaten 12-24 hours before his death. It was a soup made from spring seeds such as barley, knotweed and camomile. Some of these seeds were not easy to find so they must have been specially collected.
