Henry Percy, the Earl of Northumberland, was the Commissioner of
Array for the East Ridings (Yorkshire), a position responsible for
mustering the troops in support of the king. He was not happy with
Richard's actions and he also resented his troops' loyalty to the
king. Because of this he was very slow in preparing his men and
so Richard's reserves lagged behind. His lateness and inactivity
on the battlefield of Bosworth requires special attention.
later the Earl was murdered during a tax revolt by some northerners
out of revenge for his betrayal of Richard at Bosworth.
