Kings Norton Junior and Infant School is a thriving over-subscribed  two form entry school situated in the southern suburbs of the City of Birmingham. The School was opened in 1876 and forms an integral part of a village within a city.

The school population reflects the very mixed area it serves. Children attend from many socio-economic backgrounds and from different

social cultures.

The school is proud of its work with the community and has gained recognition for the many extra-curricular activities which are provided for pupils. Parents have high expectations and work with the school for the

mutual benefit of the children.

The school participated in the DFEE School

improvement pilot and had won many national and regional awards. In June 1997 the school received an excellent Ofsted report which stated:

"Kings Norton is a very good and deservedly popular school with some outstanding features."

There are 420 pupils who are supported by 17 teaching staff, 7 learning support staff and 22 other support staff. The school also has many links with

organisations who come into school to support the teaching of the curriculum.
