John Everett Millais (1829-1896)
John Everett Millais entered the Royal Academy Schools at age 11, and exhibited at the Royal Academy from the age of 17
As well as being an notable artist, Millais was also a illustrator during the 1860s, and worked much more consistently in this medium than most of the other Pre-Raphaelites
His life was one long success, starting with a silver medal from the Royal Academy at age 9. He thrived at the Academy, becoming President, in the year of his death. In later years his art became more popular, and he turned to portraiture, specialising in pictures of society ladies, little girls, and fashionable lovers.
