John William Inchbold (1830-1888)

John William Inchbold was a landscape painter who was born in Leeds, the son of a Yorkshire newspaper owner. He trained as a lithographer but then studied painting at the Royal Academy Schools.

Inchbold painted in across Europe and North Africa as well as in England. As well as painting and etching he also wrote poetry, publishing a volume of his poems in 1877.
