James Campbell (1828-1893)

Another painter who was a more distant admirer of the Pre-Raphaelites but who also painted scenes of the everyday was James Campbell. Best known for his narrative and genre paintings, his works often depict contemporary life, but edged with the romanticism that was a mark of the Pre-Raphaelite style.
