How long does it take to make a ballet?

It takes the choreographer (the person who makes the dance) anything from a few months to many years to make a ballet. The idea for a piece of work might be in the choreographers mind but finding the right piece of music the money to produce the ballet, a designer, the right dancers for the role, could take years.Apart from the dancers and the choreographer a ballet needs a lot of different people to make it happen. Backstage there are technicians who look after the lights and set, there are musicians who play in the orchestra, ballet masters who teach class and help the dancers learn their roles. There are people who help sell the seats in the theatre, people who write the programme notes, set up tours of the work, make the costumes....

See what information you can find out about the different people needed to run a ballet company or a theatre. Which of the jobs would you like?
