I woke up at 7:15 today. Surprisingly, I wasn’t tired, even after the long flight back from India the day before. I had to iron my clothes so I did that, and did all the other necessary things, then set off for school. When I arrived, I was bombarded with hugs from my best friends because they had missed me whilst I was in India – at least someone missed me! We made our way to class and then we had numeracy. I had to do a level 6 test paper…..it was challenging but I did well. At break, we had a big catch up about what I’d missed while I was away for 5 days. After break we did some blogging with our American partner school then went for lunch. We had topic after lunch – we are learning about life in WWII at the moment. Then we did RE, which was a talkative lesson, where we learned that even though people look different, they’re not.
Home-time followed – phew! When I got home I unpacked my clothes from the trip and tidied my room. Then I spent some time playing with my adorable 5 month old sister. After that, I made my own dinner (mum and aunty kept an eye on me) and I ate it. It was scrumptious! Just before bedtime, I read my fabulous new book for a while (Twilight Saga: Eclipse) then went to sleep.
Today was quite similar to yesterday. When I arrived at school, I checked what time my guitar lesson was and then went back to my classroom. I talked to a few people then it was time for Numeracy. Numeracy was….fun as usual. At break-time I had a guitar lesson and we practiced all of the songs we had learned ready for our school concert. ICT/topic was next and we made a WWII style identity card with identifying facts about ourselves. At lunchtime I played cricket for a while, then went to talk to my best friends.
In the afternoon, we had Literacy. We had to write a balanced (not biased) argument about spending a year travelling around the world, like Michael did in Kensuke’s Kingdom. I’m sure I got a high level. Didn’t do much when I got home….just had dinner, went on the laptop, played with my iPod, bought a new Twilight app and read for a while.
Woke up at 6:45 this morning! Had breakfast and went to school. First lesson was maths and it was the same as usual….FUN! After breaktime we had Literacy and we had to write a ship’s log as part of our work on Kensuke’s Kingdom. I wrote quite a lot! It was raining at lunchtime which meant we couldn’t go outside, not much fun. After lunch we finished off our Picasso paintings. I really enjoyed learning about Picasso and looking at the different paintings he has done. It’s difficult to paint in the same style as him! I stayed in at last break to chat with friends. After break we did some SEAL work, talking and writing about our feelings and emotions about moving to secondary school.
When I got home, I talked to my family for a while, watched some TV and read some more of Twilight: Eclipse.
Woke up tired this morning. A bowl of Coco-Pops helped! (Editorial note - other breakfast cereals are also available!) Numeracy first. We were revising arranging decimal numbers ready for an investigation next week. It was fun and there was a nice atmosphere. Straight after, we had Literacy and we walked down to Kings Norton library. While we were there we learned more about the Dewey system and how to use it and then we listened to some stories. By the time we got back it was lunchtime, so I went straight on to the field to practice our Britain’s Got Talent act for the end of term. It was so funny! First lesson of the afternoon was Science. It was fun! We did a practical investigation on which paper towel is the most absorbent and the best value for money. Last lesson was fun but quite sad as we had the first rehearsal for our leaver’s assembly. We started to learn the songs we will be singing. It did make me sad.
After school I had netball as I am in the school team. Unusually it didn’t require much effort this week – I must be getting better! We helped to train the Year 4’s. When I got home I had dinner, downloaded a few new songs, watched TV for a bit and then carried on reading my book.
Up at bang on 7 this morning and same breakfast as yesterday. Can’t put my new book down now – I read it whenever I can! First lesson was Numeracy – ordering fractions but still fun! Then we had our Friday celebration assembly and I got a certificate for my enthusiasm in science! Literacy after break was enjoyable – we did a comprehension exercise based on chapter 4 of Kensuke’s Kingdom. Lunchtime was fun because I hung out with my best friends and we chatted about things. This afternoon we had science. We finished off our practical investigation by recording our results and then writing a conclusion based on the results. Last lesson we had a second rehearsal for the leavers assembly, just to try a few ideas out.
Anyway, that was my week. Hope you have enjoyed reading about it.
