Description:
This activity can be used as part of the History unit on the Ancient Egyptians. Senet is a board game that was played by the Egyptians and provides an entertaining introduction to Egyptian culture. All the instructions for play are included on the pages, which can be printed for future reference, as well as downloadable files of the board and 'throwsticks' for printing purposes.
Resource Support Notes:
Printing off copies of the 'throwsticks' and the playing board onto card will make useful resources for future use in the classroom. Playing Senet not only recreates an historical activity but can also be linked to the Numeracy Strategy as a cross-curricular activity. Although the game is intended for two players, it can easily be incorporated into a small group activity to stimulate problem solving skills as well as developing collaborative working.
