The Anti Bullying Campaign Group has supported the national Anti Bullying Week (15-19th November) by holding a poster competition for schools across Birmingham and designing a poster display in the Centre for the Child at Birmingham Central Library which showed young people’s views about Bullying as well as useful numbers and websites to contact about Bullying issues. On 19th November the Campaign group hosted an Anti- Bullying meeting in the Council House Chambers. The event was very well attended by students from Arch Bishop Ilsey, Queensbridge, Small Heath and Hodge Hill Enterprise Schools. Students took part in a bullying quiz, listened to Campaign group presentations about bullying and what we can do to tackle it and took part in a lively debate “Should there be a citywide policy on Anti Bullying?” The Group also took young people’s comments about cyber safety. Feedback from the event has been fed back at Birmingham’s Educational Scrutiny meeting.
The group have been invited to attend a screening of the film Fit. Fit has been developed by Stonewall’s Education for All campaign and is specifically created for Key Stage 3 and 4 students. Fit is an intelligent and entertaining film that tackles the issues of homophobic bullying in Britain’s schools.
