Expedition now over but that doesn't mean that this site dies. The last of the lectures will be published in the next two days. The Junior section will continue to develop and now that we are on dry land more of the photographs taken on the expedition can be published. Some videos of the lectures will be added. We will rename the site to represent its more permanent nature and hope that it becomes a resource for all to use and enjoy.

As part of the WMnet digischool programme we will be joining the Coral Cay Conservation (CCC) Trust, on a unique week-long Conservation Liveaboard to the Red Sea from May 6th to May 12th.

On charter through the award-winning holiday company Regaldive, the conservation liveaboard will depart out of Hurghada (Northern Red Sea) on the 6 May 2005 for a week. A qualified tropical marine biologist will guide the educational dive trip. Divers will be given the opportunity to develop their Indo Pacific coral reef species identification skills at the same time enjoying a full diving programme in the company of like-minded individuals. The program includes structured lectures and discussions on tropical marine biology, ecology and the threats facing these delicate and biodiverse environments.

This site gives you background information to the expedition. It is planned that it will be updated daily with information on the Red Sea marine biology, photographs of corals and fish with links to the daily information and hopefully (flat sea dependant) digitalk (video communication) with schools in the West Midlands using the new Polycom PVX system and the Birmingham Grid for Learning conferencing network.

The latest news (Wed. 4th May) is that digitalk may not be possible because of something linked to the 'firewall' of the satellite. This does not however prevent regular updates to this site (on a 3 hourly basis) to answer your questions, see images of the coral reefs of the Red Sea and view video clips of the expedition.

The schools that will involve themself in this link are King Edwards VI Camp Hill Boys and Woodhouse Primary  School. If any other school wishes to receive a mention and look in on the expedition then do this through the Questions page
