This year, Rock Idol has grown and the incentives to take part have simply got bigger.

Involving schools throughout the West Midlands region, the competition includes a number of innovative elements designed to encourage schools to use video conferencing, to provide opportunities for all pupils to become involved in music making, and to share enthusiasm and expertise for performance and composition across the region.

The songs being performed will be no longer than 5 minutes. The panel of judges will give immediate feedback to the bands on their performance. The performances are being shown live on the BIG screen (hosted by BBC) in Birmingham City Centre and streamed live via the Birmingham Grid for Learning web site
