This year, Rock Idol has grown and
the incentives to take part have simply got bigger.
Involving schools throughout the
West Midlands region, the competition includes
a number of innovative elements designed to encourage schools to use video
conferencing, to provide opportunities for all pupils to become involved in
music making, and to share enthusiasm and expertise for performance and
composition across the region.
The
performance
The songs being performed will be no
longer than 5 minutes. The panel of judges will give immediate feedback to the
bands on their performance. The performances are being shown live on the BIG
screen (hosted by BBC) in Birmingham City Centre and streamed live via the
Birmingham Grid for Learning web site

Judges for 2005 are represented from
Brian Greene Gigajam, Julie Bruton, Head of
Music-Harborne Hill School, Ken Bearman (professional musician from bands
Druidspear and The Love Commandos)
