Although the booklet is split into sections for year groups any of the problems can be used across both key stages with some modification. The problems fit into the categories of

• finding all possibilities
• logic problems
• diagram and visual puzzles
• reasoning about patterns and sequences

Although there are no direct references to word problems many of the problems are presented as word problems.
