Build Your Own Atom
A wonderful whole-class resource for teaching atomic structure and electron configuration. Children learn how to create an atom from the mass number and atomic number. Changing circuits
Linked to Unit 6G of the QCA scheme. This is a nice activity; you are set some problems ...such as making the light bulb dimmer, or making it brighter. You add more components to solve the problem and then by clicking the Diagram button you see your circuit in symbol mode.
Changing Matter
This is an animated model of a solid changing to a liquid and then into the gaseous state.
Changing sounds
Linked to Unit 5F of the QCA scheme. There is a guitar, bottle and drum in this activity. You can change the characteristics of the instrument and therfore change the sound. There is also a sound sorting exercise and a quiz.
Changing state
This is linked to Unit 5D of the QCA Scheme. A nice simple representation of melting ice and boiling water. You could ask questions about the way the cork stays on.
Chemical Changes
This is linked to Unit 6C of the QCA scheme. Reversible and irreversible changes. There are two parts to this activity - Reversing(involving heating) and dissolving (adding water). There is also a quiz.

This is linked to Unit 6E of the QCA scheme. An interesting activity almost a virtual investigation. You have to choose the conditions for the investigation - the slope, the type of air brake, the weight. There is then a table to fill in which can then be checked.

Linked to Unit 5C of the QCA scheme. This is really similar to the solids and liquids Unit. The sorter activity will supplement the previous one. You do however heat up a brown liquid (bromine!) see it turn into a gas and then cool it.

There are message boards filled with questions to get kids from all over the world talking to each other and thinking creatively. And, of course, Kids' Castle has lots of fun and challenging games and contests.
Make Beliefs Comix
This is a free online tool for creating comic strips, which could be used by pupils to support a wide range of curriculum areas, especially literacy, EAL, community languages, communication skills-based learning and special education needs such as autism or emotional difficulties. Because the resource offers a choice of emotions which can be portrayed by the comic characters, a particularly relevant use could also for the development of emotional intelligence, behaviour and PSHE issues best represented by examples in contexts.
