We have TWO represpentatives that attend Education Scrutiny Committee meetings each month. Their role is to: - Represent young peoples issue at each meeting.
- Ask questions and challenge reports that are brought to Committee.
- Update the committe on the 5 campaigns voted by you.
- Support the committe with Strategic Reviews.
The Education Scrutiny Committee consists of Councillors, Senior Officers within Education, and Teaching Unions. The purpose of the group is to find out how educucation services are working and to make sure that Birmingham provides excellent Education for all of its children and young people. All of the Representatives have gone through an induction and training session to make sure they understand their role and also how questions are raised and answered at Committee. To date VIP and UKYP have worked on the Relationship and Sex Education Review and have presented information on Education Pressures.
