The VIP Campaign Group for Activities has invited all elected members of Voice is Power, the Children in Care Council (CICC) and the Young Disabled Champions Group to a meeting to discuss the cuts to the Youth Service  Budget Review. It is proposed that the Youth Service budget is to be cut substantially.  

A meeting will take place on Tuesday 1st Feb 2011 to  look at the impact of the cut on Youth Services in Birmingham and to look at a way of taking the campaign forward.

Prior to the meeting the VIP Executive Group will be holding a consultation with CICC and Young Disabled Champions, to ensure that all young people are represented appropriately. They will then  collectively meet with the Save the Birmingham Youth Service Committee to discuss how they can support the campaign.

Abiodun, Jeevan , Albion  &  Ayesha  are the elected members leading the Campaign for Activities for Young People.

Our aim is promote provision for young people in Birmingham and to ensure that this is advertised across the city.
We want to find out what activities Birmingham offers to promote this through publicity campaigns.

We want to Identify where they are needed through consulting children and young people and work with Councillors and Senior Officers to identify suitable spaces in easy reach areas. Ideally we hope to identify a wealth of actitivities in every constituency.

Our idea is to hold a conference with school councils to identify needs and to formulate a questionnaire through Survey Monkey to schools and youth centres. We also want to look at issues around Staying Safe in a Clean and Green City by finding out what activities are available to keep young people out of trouble

We want to promote what Birmingham City Council are doing to provide a higher quality of life that will enable young people to enjoy their neighbourhoods regardless of where they live.

To achieve our goal we propose:

•    To identify local areas that is lacking resources.
•    To locate services and promote them on our website and work with other groups to make their services easily accessible.
•    Support projects who may loose their funding to access alternative funders.
•    To work with schools to provide activities for children and young people to reduce stress levels.
•    To use the VIP website to promote all services identified and make links to other sites.
