Birmingham Grid for Learning has now replaced the Foundation Stage site with the latest Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) area at www.bgfl.org/foundation!

The EYFS site offers all Early Years and Foundation providers with an enticingly manageable handle on what promises to be one of the most comprehensive strategies ever created to cover provision for 0-8 year olds.

What is EYFS? ... The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) brings together all previous frameworks for Foundation and Early Years (Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage [2000], Birth to Three Matters [2002]; National Standards for Under 8s Daycare and Childminding [2003]).
 
Who provides it? ... It's not just for teachers! This single, cohesive framework is designed to offer a coherent and flexible approach to care and learning at an age when the two are impossible to separate. And, because all providers are required to use the EYFS and all providers are regarded as responsible for all areas of the framework, the 16 separate areas are all inter-related.
 
What are the four Themes? ...

And each Principle is supported by four Commitments which are shown on the poster which accompanies the materials. The Commitments describe how the Principles can be put into practice.
