Citizenship Education   - International Young Leaders Award
International Young Leaders Award

The International Young Leaders Award (IYLA) has been developed by young people who have already been involved in leadership through activities such as, The Junior Sports Leaders Award, Sporting Ambassador’s, Arts Leaders and the INDIE (Inclusion and Diversity in Education) Programme

Ideally you should have the support of the School, and a mentor who can help by advising and checking progress being made.
It may be possible to include time for the award within the curriculum in negotiation with the individual school.

You should choose at least one of the following to base your project on:

  • Cultural awareness (awareness of different countries and how people live in those countries).
  • Respecting differences and similarities in race, beliefs and values.
  • Exploring diversity.
  • Local or international experiences and exchanges (mixing with different people).
  • Sharing and developing skills internationally.
  • Communication through different languages, verbal and non verbal.
  • Understanding common problems e.g. bullying and racism
