Community Education Awards 2011

This new awards scheme, organised by The Police Community Clubs of Great Britain (PCCGB), is an annual celebration of schools’ efforts to help children become positive community members.

Secondary schools, primary schools and pupil referral units from across the UK can enter the Awards by selecting one or more of the 12 categories on offer and completing a brief online form.  Applications will be accepted from 24 November 2010 – 31 January 2011. The winners will be presented with their awards in May 2011 and will be invited to attend a ceremony and dinner planned for June 2011.

There are three awards for individuals:

  • The Lord John Stevens Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement
  • The Citizenship Magazine Award for Outstanding PSHE / Citizenship Teacher
  • The Barry Jones MBE Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) Mentor Award

and awards for nine different projects:

  • The Umbro Community Sports Project Award
  • The Community Aware Green Schools Project Award
  • The Community Initiatives Associates Money Management Project Award
  • The IHG Inspiring Career Opportunity Award
  • The IT247 Internet Safety Project Award
  • The Allianz Insurance Action Against Anti-Social Behaviour Project Award
  • The Contender Am-Box Action Against Misuse of Drugs Project Award
  • The Diageo Action Against Misuse of Alcohol Project Award
  • The Barney & Echo Action Against Bullying Project Award

The winners will be presented with sets of educational resources before being invited to publicise their work at The Community Education Awards dinner planned for June 2011. The winners of some categories will also receive a prize of £500.
